August Book Haul

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson: I don't really know that much about this book, but I have heard amazing things about it. I do know that it has some pretty heavy topics throughout it.
The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons: I had heard Katherine's Reads rave about this book. It's a standalone fantasy/distopian book that is similar to the Handmaid's Tale, where women are kind of inferior to men and aren't treated right.
Sweet by Emmy Laybourne: The tagline for this book is what really hooked me: "People would kill to be thin." This sounds really interesting and I think it takes place on a cruise full of celebrities, so I'm really excited how this will turn out.
The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour: This sounds like a really cool contemporary with music, traveling, and friendship. I really liked Nina LaCour's Everything Leads to You and I want to read more of her work.
The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma: This book sounds really dark and mysterious and I'm so pumped for it. I will definitely be reading this in the fall.
Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary/Keys to the Demon Prison (Fablehaven 4&5) by Brandon Mull: I had read the first Fablehaven book when I was in middle school, because I was gifted the first three books. I had loved these fantasy books so much. I don't remember if I ever finished the series, because I might have borrowed these at the library but I never got the last two in the series. I plan on rereading this series soon because I loved it so much and now I have all of the books! I highly recommend this, it's a great middle grade fantasy series, and I have heard Mull's other middle grade books are really good as well! Side note, I think this series got repackaged or I got the wrong editions (yet again) because they don't match the first 3 that I have.
Half Bad by Sally Green: I just noticed the face on the cover and it looks so cool. This is the first book in a fantasy trilogy set in England with witches and all things supernatural.
Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver: I have read the Delirium trilogy and Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and I had enjoyed them. This sounds really mysterious and I hope I will like it as much as Oliver's other work.
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch: Another fantasy trilogy I have yet to start! I don't know much about this book but I'm always ready to jump into a fantasy book knowing next to nothing.
The Host by Stephenie Meyer: I have actually read this book a long time ago when I was in middle school and I had loved it so much. As you have probably noticed, I don't really read science fiction that much but this is probably the best one I have ever read. This book is extremely long but the storyline is so great and I'm so happy I have a physical copy. This book is about Earth getting invaded by alien entities and we are in the head of the MC and we hear her thoughts and the alien that has taken over her body. Also, it's hard to see but the spine is so beautiful.
In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware: All I know is that this a mystery/thriller so that's all I want to know. I have heard good things about this so I'm excited for it.
First & Then by Emma Mills: I read the description of this and oh my god. If you didn't see my latest post, I'm obsessed with the show Friday Night Lights and this book is suppose to be that meets Pride and Prejudice and I'm so excited I can't.
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella: I read I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella and I really loved it so I'm hoping I love this one just as much. I know this is about a girl who is dealing with anxiety so I'm looking forward to this.
Palo Alto by James Franco: This is interesting. I had actually heard about the movie before and I had no clue it was a book written by the James Franco, like the actor. I thought that was so different and I think it's actually a collection of short stories so it'll be a good short read.
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes: I actually have the 2nd book in this series, Rebel Spring so I figured I should get the first book. I know this is a popular fantasy series that a lot of people love so I thought I would give a shot. Also, this might have been repackaged or I got the wrong edition because it's slightly different than Rebel Spring's appearance.
The Novice by Taran Matharu: I know next to nothings about this but the cover looks very intriguing and I know it's a much loved fantasy series.
Silence/Finale (Hush Hush 3&4) by Becca Fitzpatrick: I think this takes the cake. I have managed to accumulate books 1,3, and 4 in this series all in different editions. I have no idea how I got 2 different editions with the same order but it happened. Never mind, I just checked BookOutlet and I didn't read the "special edition" that was in the description on Silence. They are both from the same publisher, just different sizes and more bonus content in Silence. Anyway, I read this series in middle school and I was obsessed about it. Like I thought about Patch way too much and he's still one of my favorite book boyfriends. I figured I should get the series since I borrowed them at the library when read them. On to the actual book description, it's a paranormal book about a girl who meets a boy and finds out he's a fallen angel and is kind of the bad boy at her school.
