Summary:

The year is 1945 and Claire Randall has just come back from being a nurse in WWII, and has reunited with her husband, Frank Randall, after 5 years. They are on their second honeymoon in the Scottish Highlands when they stumble upon a rock formation. Claire comes back on her own and touches the rocks and it transported to the year 1743 in clan-raging Scotland. She is sucked into the lives of the Clan MacKenzie and meets Jamie Fraser.

My Thoughts:

This book was purely addicting. I couldn't stop reading, because I was so entranced my Claire and Jamie's relationship. Also, I loved the setting. I mean warring clans in 18th century Scotland? Yes please. I am going to admit there is a lot of sex. I don't know if I was prepared for all of that. I also loved Claire. She was so fierce and fiesty! And Jamie is such a lovable character (aside from that one part). This book also took me 10 days to read due to the length so approach with caution.

This book also made me uncomfortable sometimes with the brutality of the time period. I was aware that times were completely different back then, but the book has this rawness when it comes to the violence of battle and people's lives in general.

There was something in the book that was never revealed that kind of made me angry, so hopefully it will be revealed in the next book because I just want to know.

Again, I loved Claire and Jamie. But Jamie wasn't perfect, which is a good thing. I like characters with flaws because they are relatable. However, Jamie does do some questionable things in the book that I don't know I can look past (even if it was in the 1700s).

Overall, this book isn't the best literature out there. But I was entertained and sucked into the time period and story. It made for a good reading experience so I deem it a good book that I enjoyed. I know I will watch the tv show and go out and buy the next one in the series.

I gave this book a 4/5 stars!
